An Ipad Stand is an important accessory for many reasons, however three of the most important reasons are:
- Reducing hand strain when holding your iPad.
- Reducing Shoulder Strain from slouching by allowing you to position your iPad in a more ergonomically suitable position.
- Reducing Eye Strain by adjusting the iPad for optimum reading and reducing screen glare by tilting or swivelling.
Here are some of our best iPad Stands
Griffin iPad Stand – Technology Loop
Griffin Technology Loop is one of the simplest and least expensive iPad stands we’ve tested. It is a well weighted, plastic, oval shape with perfectly formed grooves that are wide enough to allow you to have your iPad in most types of cases, however, the thicker the case the more upright the iPad will sit. It also has rubber feet which helps keep the stand from sliding around on your chosen work surface.
To use the Loop as an upright stand, you pop your iPad—in either horizontal or vertical position—in the grooves, which allows the iPad to lean back at around 15 to 20. This is a comfortable angle for watching a movie or indeed to use a keyboard. The Loop ipad stand was always reasonably stable in this position. However if you press or tap your iPad near the top edge or the top corners, this can cause the iPad to wobble a bit. If you press hard or apply to much pressure on the top when the ipad is in the vertical position, it can fall over, this however is not really a problem as Loop is well weighted and tends to hold your iPad effectively enough. (The Loop’s grooves are large enough to accommodate an iPad inside all but the thickest of cases, although the thicker the case, the more upright the iPad will sit.)
The design of the Loop allows you to use Apple’s USB dock-connector cable to charge and sync the iPad even when oriented vertically—and without having to flip the iPad upside-down, as is the case with some other stands. The Loop elevates the bottom of the iPad far enough off the desk or counter for the dock-connector cable to plug in, and a slight arch in the rear of the Loop lets the cable run under the back edge to reduce cable clutter. On the other hand, the Loop doesn’t offer enough clearance for some third-party dock-connector cables with thicker cables or larger plugs.
If you lay the iPad flat on the Loop, it becomes a nice aid for typing, in either the horizontal or vertical position.
Both the top of the Loop insides of the grooves are lined with a material that protects your iPad from being scratched.
Although the design is very simple, this Griffin ipad stand works really well, and if its limited positions are to your liking, you will have a versatile and well made stand for very little money.
Griffin Technology A-Frame Stand for iPad
Overall, aluminium iPad stands are pricey but the A-Frame offers excellent value. It’s really well built, very stable, and you can even use it when your iPad has a protective case on it.
Simple. Beautiful. Rock-solid.
More than just a place for your iPad to call home, Griffin’s A-Frame for iPad is a simple, beautiful iPad stand that helps you get the most use out of your iPad wherever you use it.
The heavy aluminum stand swings open to hold your iPad upright, in either portrait or landscape view — perfect for watching video or viewing pictures. Or close the legs and lay the stand down to hold your iPad at the perfect angle for desktop surfing, reading or gaming. Soft silicone cradles your iPad with room for its charge/sync cable. A-Frame is designed to accommodate your iPad inside its flexible or hard-shell case.
It’s non-slip rubber cradle accommodates Griffin’s flexible and hard-shell cases and many others and allows easy access to the dock connector for charging and syncing during use.
Rain Design iRest – ipad stand
Simple yet appealing, practical yet fun. Rain Design’s iRest Lap Stand for iPad, and iPad 2
has been designed to be used on your desk, table, or on your lap. Its even good to use whilst lying in bed!
lets you view your iPad’s screen in comfort with excellent stability.
stand is compact, has no rough edges to scratch your iPad or indeed your chosen work surface. All of the edges of the stand’s aluminium frame have a rounded finish to them, it’s just a really well thought out stand from start to finish.
There are rubber protection pads in all the places where your iPad may come into contact with the stand even the base is cushioned with a thick, smooth, foam pads. The stand lifts your iPad around 3 inches above your work surface and the precision made transparent-plastic hinge on the back of the stand allows you adjust the viewing angle through a wide range of angles – approximately 60 degrees.
The protective groove at the bottom of the iRest
accommodates your iPad in either the horizontal or vertical positions. There is a well thought out cut-out in the middle of the cradle that lets you connect your iPad’s dock-connector cable for charging and syncing in the vertical position. Whilst the ipad is in the vertical position there are also other well thought out holes, one allowing you to press the Home button and another that allows the iPad’s bottom mounted speaker to be heard.
fits both the iPad and the iPad 2 and no doubt the iPad 3 whenever that appears, it accommodates the iPad even when it is adorned with Apple’s Smart Cover or in fact any other iPad case that adds less than a half an inch to the overall thickness of the iPad.
feels amazingly light, even although it weighs 15oz (440g) with all the cushions attached.
It is incredibly stable and whilst tapping anywhere on your screen it doesn’t even wobble. The iRest measures 8.6 inches in height, 6.8 inches in width and 2 inches in depth when it is all folded up without the back cushions. With the cushions its width grows .
The iRest Lap Stand
is comfortable, sturdy, well built and very easy to pack and travel with. Once you get used to it, you won’t be without it. At $49.90, it’s not the cheapest iPad stand on the market but its certainly one of the very best ipad stands we have come across.
3 Feet Portable iPad Stand
Interesting to say the least!
are amazing, they are made from an almost unbreakable plastic and fit both the iPad and the iPad 2 and without doubt the iPad 3 when it eventually arrives.
I love it, its like a mini shopping trolley just for your iPad, you just want to keep playing with it and adjusting it because you can! The biggest problem for me is what colour I needed to choose as there are ten basic colours and literally loads of colour combinations for your favourite NFL Team, college, country and even company colours…
Unlike many stands on the market, it comes ready assembled, thank goodness because it consists of 5 main parts which all go together and were probably made at the engineering department of Harry Potters School.
Now how easy is this, there is a tab on the back that says “Pull” so you pull it and hey presto it opens up into an A-frame. It can be used when your iPad is in a protective case and there is access for the charging cable.
Now my biggest concern about any iPad stand is that it is sturdy enough to hold my pride and joy, well yet again the 3feet iPad Stands
are up to the task.
It has silicone rubber bands protecting your furniture and stopping it slide everywhere and a little piece that flips out from the back when the main part is folded flat.
It is light, tidy, compact and the easiest stand for traveling with.
This is one cool iPad accessory and although it is incredibly well put together its so cheap, at only $12.95 it is an absolute bargain. These stands are only available on amazon so I have put a link here for you to have a look around.
