Of all the different iPad 2 cases out at the moment the iPad 2 portfolio case is probably the most popular. There are an incredible amount of them being released on a regular basis and it is hard to keep track with all the new brands that seem to be emerging.
I think this demand for iPad 2 folio cases is being driven by the need for both a smart and practical case that feels comfortable in a leisure and work environment. In fact I guess it is the integration of the iPad into the workplace that is probably the main cause.
So if you need the best of both worlds where you look cool in the office, the boardroom or when with clients and customers while at the same time being able to unwind watching movies or playing games here are 4 of the most suitable iPad 2 Portfolio cases around.
Disclaimer – I do not own any of these cases so any observations are from researching the products and customer reviews.
By the way most of these cases are available in other colors
Tuff Luv iPad 2 Case – Tri-Axis Stasis Series: iPad 2 Case Stand
This is a relatively new case from the Tuff Luv team and has what they call their “Statis” feature which is basically the function to turn off the iPad 2 when closing the cover for better power management on the move. Where this case stands out for me in the iPad 2 portfolio case market is the adaptable velcro-stand. Whereas most iPad 2 folio cases offer maybe 3-4 viewing positions this Tuff Luv iPad 2 case gives you 8 different positions. You are able to stand it up, lay it flat or spin it left or right so you are really covered for most situations. Unlike some other iPad 2 folio cases this one has discreet velcro anchors to keep the iPad securely locked in. I think this is a great looking case that has all the features you need for a working iPad and it is no surprise that it was nominated for best iPad 2 accessory in 2011 by MacWorld.

Sena iPad 2 Case – Leather iPad 2 Case with stand
The Sena case is another iPad 2 folio case that oozes class and sophistication when looking to give your iPad 2 a professional style. It is made of high quality soft leather and is a classic portfolio design. It comes with a fully integrated 3 position stand for viewing presentations in landscape or portrait mode plus another position to allow easier typing. The secure flap has a snap closure mechanism and for added protection and durability there is a rigid protective layer built into the cover.

Targus iPad 2 Case – Versavu
Targus are well known for their iPad cases and for the iPad 2 they have released a number of cases this year. I have already reviewed in a previous post the Targus Truss case for iPad 2 so thought I would mention the Targus Versavu specifically designed for the iPad 2. I like the look of the Targus because it has a very professional image yet comes with a different stand feature in that the iPad can be rotated vertically or horizontally when being supported in the case. The stand contained in the case gives 3 viewing angles plus the obligatory lower angle view for more comfortable typing.
Unlike the other 3 cases here the Versavu has a hard exterior rather than leather so it can probably claim to offer just a little bit more protection from knocks. However inside it is all soft and welcoming to avoid scratching. As with all the other cases the iPad 2 functions can easily be used without having to take the iPad out from the case but unlike the others the Versavu does not come with the auto sleep mode when you close the case.

Melkco iPad 2 case–Slim Folio
The Melkco case is probably not as versatile as the other 3 iPad 2 cases in that the case only offers limited viewing angles. However when it looks this one can hold its own with the best of them. It is made out of genuine cowhide leather with some really stylish stitch finishing to give it a more quality feel. It looks similar to the popular Apple Smart Cover and like the Apple cover it does have the magnetic sleep and awake mode when closing and opening the case. However I think due to quality leather finish this iPad 2 stand looks far more at home in the workplace. Also due to its design it is the slimmest of the cases featured here

This is just a glimpse at some of theiPad 2 portfolio case offerings you can get your hands on at the moment. Personally I think if your iPad 2 is becoming more of a tool at work as well as home then an iPad 2 folio case is a sensible investment.
